Our team has either made their own mistakes on their journey to success, or have seen many of the same ones be made over and over again.  It was hard to narrow down, but here, in very “straight-talk” form, are 3 KEY REASONS WHY YOUR MUSIC CAREER FEELS “STUCK”:

#3 YOU’RE EXPECTING A HANDOUT.

The most common concerns artists usually have are that they don’t have money, access to the “right people,” and no one wants to “help” them.  Let’s say, hypothetically, that all these “opportunities” presented themselves to you today.  Are you ready for them?  Why? Cause you’re “good”?  Well, are you on social media? Because, if you are, you should be working on having enough people care about you on there to prove to these magical “connections” that the market even likes you, and, most importantly, (if you’re not too self centered to realize) you’d notice how much remarkable talent exists out there.  This is a game of strategy, preparation, persistence, and timing.  You can’t keep blaming your lack of progress on people not “helping” you.  There is so much that can be done these days to get noticed on a minimal budget.  If you don’t know how to do something, YouTube it! (That should be an acceptable verb by now.)  If you can’t create content in high quality, be clever enough about your approach so that you stand out from the rest.  If you wait for a golden goose egg, you’ll be stuck up that bean stalk a long time, and wasted time is your worst enemy.  Lastly, if you do have a bit of budget wiggle room to enjoy a nice dinner, or buy new kicks, than you likely have a bit to reinvest in yourself.  Just sayin’. Prioritize.

#2 YOUR CALLING MIGHT NOT BE WHAT YOU THINK IT IS.

Now, before the emails start rolling in, you should know that this statement in no way is meant to discourage you from your dreams.  It just means that, sometimes, you should consider keeping an open mind to opportunities that are right under your nose.  Your passion never has to go away, but sometimes you might find incredible success as a manager, session singer, voice over artist, jingle writer, etc.  Who knows? Once you have substantial leverage and economic freedom, you can do whatever you want, really.   If something is really getting you results, go for it!  Sometimes roads wind in ways you never expected, but lead to ultimate happiness and fulfillment.  Understanding and accepting this is called self awareness (Watch webinar 1 on our website. You’ll understand what we mean.)

#4 YOU’RE DOING THE SAME THINGS AND EXPECTING DIFFERENT RESULTS.

This behavior often goes hand in hand with #2. (See above.). The most creative, out-of-the-box, feather ruffling, zero-caring, influential people will make noise in this ever growing sea of wannabes.  There’s nothing wrong with “wanting to be,” but stop wanting and start doing things that are getting RESULTS.
